Installing on two separate computers.
I was wondering if, in order to install Guild Wars on a different computer, I would need to uninstall it from my computer. Reason being is that I'm going back home for a few days and I wanted to be able to play GW there, since there is very little to do back home. Thanks.

No, you can download and install the client on any computer you wish (or even from the CD) and use your same account.
The CD-Key you entered when you made your account is tied to your email address/profile, not to your specific computer. I use my laptop and my desktop sometimes ... not at the same time, obviously, unless my one account wants to run my other somewhere If you only have one account, disregard the previous sentence. Happy GW'ing! |

If you're forced into staying at your Gran's for a weekend, and they have a good computer (Ok, not likely, but for the purposes of this example), you can simply download the Client from the net (I think you can actually get it off the downloads section on Guru), and run your account from there.

See also Download Client on the official homepage.
On a side note, you don't even need to install the game properly. It is possible to copy the installation folder onto, say, a mobile HDD (via USB or Firewire) and just hook that one up to any other computer. When you start GW from that drive, it will be a little confused at first and you'll have to confirm once that you want to start it from it's current location, but then it'll run just fine. |

I suppose a followup question to this is:
Can I use my account on the computer of someone else who has guild wars without accidentally merging the two accounts? Can I activate a brand new account on that someone else's computer, and then go home and install the game on my computer and then use my account without damage to either mine or theirs? |

I created a normal user account without administrator rights, with GW installed in a directory with read-write access to everyone, and GW works just fine. So unless your college has tighter security than normal, you should be okay. There also is possible firewall problems, if GW can connect to the server even if you manage to start it up. Only one way to find out... Last edited by Kaguya; May 23, 2006 at 11:40 AM // 11:40.. |
